OPPOSITION LEADER AND LAWYER ARRIVES AT SINGAPORE COURT.
Leader of the Singapore Democratic Party, Dr Chee Soon Juan, (R) with his lawyer Joshua Jeyaretnam arrive at the Singapore's Subordinate Courts January 11. Chee has been charged with an offence under Singapore's Public Entertainment Act after giving a public speech without a permit and faces a Singapore $5,000 fine. He has pleaded not guilty and says his right to free speech is guaranteed under the country's constitution. His counsel, Jeyaretnam is a veteran opposition politician and leader of the Workers' Party. Both men have been sued in the past by members of the governing People's Action Party.
