Tens of thousands of rubber ducks float down the Singapore River November 12, 2000, during the city-state's annual duck race. More than 100,000 rubber ducks bobbed their way down several hundred metres of the river in an event sponsored by Singapore's major English-language newspaper to raise money for charity. Each duck was adopted by a member of public for Singapore $10 ($5.75), with the winning duck earning its owner S$10,000 (US$5,750).
