Former security policeman Harold Snyman applies for amnesty for his part in the killing of anti-Apartheid activist Steve Biko from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, September 10. Snyman and four other former security policemen are appearing before the TRC in conection with the killing. Biko, a leading member of the Black Peoples Convention, died in detention in 1977.
