A Titan 4B rocket lifts off from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station enroute to the planet Saturn, October 15. The space probe called Cassini carried 72 pounds of plutonium which critics said could have affected area residents in the event of an explosion. The gate of the Air Force Station was the scene of recent protests of the launch.
