CREW ARRIVES AT KENNEDY SPACE CENTER TO PREPARE FOR LAUNCH.
The crew of space shuttle Columbia mission STS-93 takes part in a press conference after they arrived aboard individual T-38 aircraft at the Kennedy Space Center July 16 to prepare for launch. Columbia is scheduled for launch on July 20, the 30th anniversary of Apollo 11's moon landing in 1969. The astronauts are expected to deploy the Chandra X-Ray observatory on the five-day mission, and are, from the left: Michel Tognini of France, Steven Hawley, Catherine Coleman, Pilot Jeffrey Ashby and Commander Eileen Collins. Collins is the first female shuttle commander.
