- PHOTO TAKEN 04APR04 - A resident of the shanty town of Las Barranquillas digs through rubbish outside Madrid April 4, 2004. Known as Madrid's "drug supermarket", the slum has no electricity or running water and is populated mostly by drug addicts and scores of Gypsies. [Gypsies live an average 22 years less than a non-Gypsy Spaniard and barely 30 percent of the adult population are functionally literate. They are among Spain's most marginalised groups, with some 80,000 living in slums like Las Barranquillas. Picture taken April 4, 2004.]
