DROWNED IMMIGRANTS LIE ON THE COAST OF FUERTEVENTURA.
Drowned African immigrants lie on the coast in Fuerteventura, one of the
Spanish Canary Islands off the coast of Morocco August 1, 2003. Six
immigrants drowned, when their flimsy boat ran aground and 15 others
disappeared on Thursday when their boat capsized six miles offshore.
Fuerteventura is the nearest of the Canary Islands to the African coast and
traffickers habitually head for its shores from launching points in southern
Morocco, packing their passengers into overloaded boats. Pictures of the
