Russian-born naturalised Australian Irina Lashko smiles during a poolside interview during the Australian Olympic diving trials in Sydney April 9, 2004. Irina Lashko has managed to fit a few more twists into her life than most athletes. One of the world's finest female divers for the past 16 years, Lashko started out as a child prodigy who won 12 national titles in her native Russia and competed at three Olympics, the first at Seoul in 1988 when she was just 15.
