UNP LEADER RANIL WICKREMASINGHE ADDRESSES A RALLY IN THE SRILANKA TOWN OF PUTTALAM.
Main opposition United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wickremasinghe addresses a rally in the Sri Lankan town of Puttalam, some 120 km (75 miles north) of the capital Colombo during an election rally September 29, 2000. The UNP said two of its supporters were injured in an attack by supporters of the ruling People Alliance before the rally. The Puttalam district has been one of the most violent in the run up to the October 10 parliamentary polls.
