POLICEMEN FRISK SUPPORTERS OF THE UNP IN THE SRI LANKA TOWN OF PUTTALAM.
Sri Lankan policemen frisk supporters of the main oppsition United National Party (UNP) at the entrance to the venue of the election rally in Puttlam some 120 km (75 miles north) of the capital Colombo on September 29, 2000. The UNP said the two of its supporters were injured in an attack by supporters of the ruling People Alliance before the rally. The Puttalam district has been one of the most violent in the run up to the October 10 parliamentary polls.
