Former Swiss private banker Rudolf Elmer (L) is accompanied by his lawyer Ganden Tethong Blattner as he arrives before a trial at the high court in Zurich January 12, 2015. Elmer, former head of the Cayman Islands office of Switzerland's Julius Baer private bank, is accused of breaching Swiss banking secrecy laws by handing over confidential data about offshore clients to WikiLeaks and attempting to pass confidential client files to the German finance ministry in 2009. Elmer - who has previously described himself as a "Gandhi of Swiss tax law" and said he wants to draw attention to financial abuses - denies the charges. He could face jail if found guilty.
