Paul Bossart, Swiss Federal Office of Topography's (swisstopo) director of the Mont Terri Project, shows a fracture line in the rock laboratory in St-Ursanne, Western Switzerland, July 3, 2012. The Mont Terri Project is an international research project on the hydrogeological, geochemical and geotechnical characterisation of a clay formation (Opalinus Clay). Clay formations are being considered in various countries for the deep geological disposal of radioactive waste and is the only host rock being proposed in Switzerland. The rock laboratory is dedicated solely to research, as such no radioactive waste is disposed here. REUTERS/Denis Balibouse (SWITZERLAND - Tags: ENERGY ENVIRONMENT SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY)
