CONFERENCE IN DAMASCUS.
Jalal Talibani, head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) speaks
at a press conference in Damascus March 15, 2002. Talibani said that
his Party is against an independent Kurdistan but it advocates a
democratic regime to rule Bagdad comprising the various nationalities
and religious factions in Iraq. Talibani is visiting Damascus to
discuss with the Syrian officials any potential U.S. strike against
