Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian makes an address at the closing
ceremony of the economic advisory committee in Taipei on August 26,
2001. A panel of leading Taiwanese academics, politicians and
businessmen urged improved commercial ties with rival China on Sunday,
but stopped short of asking the government to end a ban on direct
transport links.
