STUDENT CONCENTRATES IN HER READING AT CRAM SCHOOL IN TAIPEI.
A student, wearing a headhand reading "Must Win", concentrates reading at a "Devil Camp" in Taipei late June 28. The camp, organised by a private cram school, runs an intensive 15-hour-a-day study group in the run up to the July 1-3 Joint College Entrance Examination islandwide, drawing 1,000 high school graduates. More than 120,000 high-school graduates will take part in the exam this year. Although the admission rate has almost tripled from the mid-1980s, competition in the few public universities remain fierce.
