Three U.S. made M60A3 tanks of Taiwan's army shoot simultaneously along the waterfront of Penghu island in the middle of Taiwan Straits April 17. Taiwan has said it was calling back its annual exercises over the coming three months, a move analysts said aimed to avoid provoking China. The Taiwan army has drills in Penghu island, located midway between Taiwan and the mainland, to test its ability to repel landings by forces from communist China,Taiwan's rival since the 1949 civil war.
