Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian offers a bouquet to honour the victims of a 1947 massacre at a memorial ceremony on Peace Memorial Day, marking the 54th anniversary of a government crackdown on anti-corruption riots, in Taipei February 28, 2001.Thousands were killed in the crackdown, which erupted in 1947 between former ruling Nationalist troops and native Taiwan residents. Chen Shui-bian, who swept to power last year, ended more than five decades of Nationalist rule in Taiwan.
