Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian fastens a screw to a beam for Taiwan's
tallest building, known as Taipei 101, in a ceremony in Taipei on July
1, 2003. Upon completion, an application for the 101-storey building
will be submitted for certification of the Taipei 101 as the world's
tallest building ahead of current world number one, the 452-metre
