ESAT AND BRITISH TELECOM CHAIRMEN ANNOUNCE ACQUISITION IN DUBLIN.
British Telecom Chairman Iain Vallance (L) and Esat Telecom founder and Chairman Denis O'Brien smile after sealing a $2.5 billion deal at Dublin's Berkeley Hotel on January 11. The board of the Irish company Esat Telecom agreed earlier today to a take over offer by British Telecom which values Esat in $2.5 bn. In BT's biggest foray into the Irish market, Esat founder O'Brien will make around $300 million from the deal.
