A Thai farmer puts finishing touches to a giant red tailed hawk made of straw before a parade in Chainat, 200 kms north of Bangkok February 12. The annual "straw bird" festival which began as a local tourism promotion contest 14 years ago, has become a hobby for farmers and bird lovers.
