Phichit, Thailand - Kingdom of
BOAT RACERS PASS BY A TEMPLE SHRINE DURING PHICHIT'S ANNUAL BOAT RACES.
Longboat paddlers stream past a temple shrine along the banks of the
flooded Nan River in Phichit, 365 kilometres (228 miles) north of
Bangkok September 8, 2002 during the town's annual boat race festival.
The banks of the river were over five metres higher than usual this
year, with heavy rains and flooding wreaking havoc throughout northern
and central Thailand but not putting a stop to Phichit's yearly
festival. REUTERS/Jason Reed
