CANADIAN STUDENT RAVN SHADOWBOXES IN A BANGKOK GYM MIRROR.
Canadian student Sarah Ravn, 23, from East Vancouver shadowboxes in
front of a mirror at a Bangkok kickboxing gym April 12, 2002. Ravn, who
has taken time off studying general sciences at the University of
British Columbia to travel through Thailand and Southeast Asia, took up
the sport just months ago in Vancouver and says that while she is not
an agressive-natured person, she enjoys the fighting sport which has
its origins in ancient Thailand. Muay Thai, the traditional name for
kickboxing, is being taught by locals at several gyms in Bangkok
catering to foreign travellers, who can learn the martial art for about
US$7 an hour. REUTERS/Jason Reed
