Villagers armed with machetes and branches for cleaning the streets celebrate their return to Liquica October 14 after hiding in the hills above the town from pro-Jakarta militias for weeks. With the presence of a United Nations force in the former militia stronghold, hundreds of citizens are returning to Liquica with stories of hunger and sickness in the surrounding areas. Aid groups plan to distribute food in the town October 16.
