Furisode-san, a modern-day version of geishas, entertain guests at a Japanese restaurant in Tokyo October 31, 2000. The demand for traditional geisha is on the brink of extinction as their company commands a high price and young women are reluctant to take up the trade. In order to keep the tradition alive, enterprising shopkeepers in downtown Tokyo have set up a company which trains young women who are called "furisode-san," and hires them out by the hour to dance and entertain at social functions.
