VOLUNTEERS CLEAN UP STAINED ROCKS IN THE SPANISH COASTAL VILLAGE OF
MUXIA.
A group of volunteers clean up fuel oil spilled from the "Prestige" oil
tanker on stained rocks near the coastal town of Muxia on Spain's
devastated North West Atlantic coast January 30, 2003. The aging,
single-hulled tanker foundered off the coast of Galicia in November
2002 with 77,000 tonnes of heavy fuel oil on board, causing Spain's
worst ever ecological disaster, contaminating hundreds of miles of
coast and putting thousands of fishermen out of work. REUTERS/Miguel
