Mokhtar Trifi, a Tunsian lawyer, was nominated late October 30, 2000 as the new Secretary General of the Tunisian Human Rights Defence League. The THRDL met on October 28 and 29, 2000, to elect their new Secretary General and the 25 members of the executive board.
