Dagmar Hartung (R), from Germany, is consoled by compatriot Hartmut Jatzko during a memorial service to commemorate the one-year Indian Ocean tsunami anniversary in Khao Lak, located in Thailand's Phang Nga province, nearly 110km (68 miles) north of the resort island of Phuket December 26, 2005. Hartung lost her mother to the tsunami. Thousands of locals and foreigners gathered on Monday in southern Thailand to commemorate the December 26, 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, which killed 5,395 people and wiped out 47 villages along the country's Andaman Sea coastline.
