NEW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TERMINAL IS OPENED IN ISTANBUL.
Passengers look out of a window as they wait to board their plane at the new international airport terminal during its opening in Istanbul January 3 to meet rising demand of both business and tourist traffic. The new terminal, able to handle 14 million passengers a year and built at a cost of $306-million USD, was opened eight months ahead of schedule as part of city's Ataturk Airport complex. The building was designed to withstand earthquakes measuring up to 8.5 on Richter scale.
