NEW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TERMINAL IS OPENED IN ISTANBUL.
Musicians perform a concert next to a duty free shop as its sales official waits for the arrival of first customers at the new international airport terminal during its opening in Istanbul January 3 to meet rising demand both business and tourist traffic. The new terminal, able to handle 14 million passengers a year and built at a cost of 306 million USD, was opened eight months ahead of schedule as part of city's Ataturk Airport complex. The building was designed to withstand earthquakes measuring up to 8.5 on Richter scale.
