COFFIN OF TURKISH JEWISH BUSINESSMAN UZEYIR GARIH IS BROUGHT OUT OF
SYNAGOGUE IN ISTANBUL.
Coffin of prominent Turkish Jewish businessman Uzeyir Garih, draped in
Turkish flag, is brought out of synagogue by palbearers to a hearse
through the columns of Turkish riot policemen blocking the road in
front of Neve Shalom Synagogue in Istanbul, Turkey, August 28, 2001.
Party leaders,ministers and businessmen gathered in the synagogue to
pay their tribute to Garih who was stabbed to death at a deserted Eyup
cemetery in Istanbul last weekend in a murder many fear could be linked
to political or business enemies.
