TURKISH WOMEN READ BANNERS ON THE ROLLING SHUTTER OF A CLOSED PHARMACY.
Turkish women pause to read the banners on the rollling shutters of a
closed pharmacy in protest against a ten percent cut in medicine prices
in Istanbul January 15, 2002. Turkish pharmacists throughout Turkey
closed down their shops for two days to protest a decision by Health
Ministry over a ten percent cut in medicine prices. Only on-duty
pharmacies were open while thousands of pharmacies were closed down
joining the protest. Banners read in Turkish "We are closed to live and
keep alive", " We want our right not a profit". REUTERS/Fatih Saribas
