A FIRST CLASS LUNCH ON THE GHAN DURING ITS INAUGURAL JOURNEY IN THE NORTHERN TERRITORY.
A first class lunch of beef curry and rice (front) and smoked salmon (rear) is seen on the outback Australian train known as the Ghan during its inaugural journey in the Northern Territory on February 3, 2004. The train, which runs 2,979 kilometres (approx 1860 miles) to Darwin from Adelaide, is named after Afghan camel drivers who used their animals to carry goods over a similar route more than 150 years ago.
