Pictures of the Year: Caravans: the new face of migration
Migrants, part of a caravan of thousands from Central America en route to the United States, wait for a hitchhike on a truck along the highway to Arriaga from Pijijiapan, Mexico, October 26, 2018. Reuters photographer Ueslei Marcelino: "The migrants wake up very early to travel as far as possible during dawn and avoid walking in the heat of the day. For us photographers, the challenge was to overcome the technical difficulties of shooting in low light, so we had to take advantage of the light of a car headlight, the light emitted by a cell phone, or even the coloured light of the police cars as they illuminated the scene."
