Family, friends and onlookers clap, cheer and wave American flags from
the Cabrillo National Monument as the USS Constellation leaves its home
port of San Diego, November 2, 2002 for a six month deployment in the
Arabian Sea. More than 8,000 sailors on the Constellation, five other
San Diego-based ships, a Pearl Harbor-based fast attack submarine and a
Bremerton, Washington-based fast combat support ship began their
deployment today as the United States prepares for a possible war
