Navy Fire Controlman 3rd Class Billy Shoemaker, a native of
Centerville, Pennsylvania uses a mop to scrub the deck near a painted
Texas flag on board the USS Austin (LPD-4) in the Gulf before a port
call January 30, 2003. The USS Austin is part of the USS Nassau (LHA-4)
Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) which also includes the USS Tortuga
(LSD-46). Together the ships transport 2,300 Marines, members of the
24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), operating in support of Operation
