Pilot Polly Vacher waves goodbye as she sets off from Birmingham International Airport, on a record-breaking attempt to pilot the smallest aircraft flown solo around the world by a woman January 12, 2001. Vacher, from Oxfordshire will fly 29,000 miles, over 17 countries in 47 stages in her single-engined piper Dakota aircraft.
