VENEZUELANS DANCE IN YARE.
Venezuelans from the village of Yare, dressed as devils, dance to the
rhythm of South American drums May 30, 2002. Every year, residents of
San Francisco de Yare, a small town nestling in the hills, nearly 70
kilometers (44 miles) south of Caracas, celebrate Corpus Christi with
the 'Devil Dance.' The roughly 900 members of the devil brotherhood
call themselves 'promisors' and each has vowed to dance to repay a
favor from God, often a cure for an illness or help for a family
member. REUTERS/Chico Sanchez
