On April 8, 1975, Trung, a U.S. trained pilot with the South Vietnamese Air Force at the time, flew his F-5E warplane over the Saigon presidential palace and dropped four bombs in an attempt to end the Vietnam War. Trung had been a Viet Cong agent for years who had vowed to avenge the mutilation of his murdered father by South Vietnamese troops in 1963. Vietnam celebrates the 25th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War on April 30.
