Fishermen from Miskitos arrive in Puerto Cabezas
Fishermen from Miskitos arrive in Puerto Cabezas, northeast of Nicaragua, October 29, 2005. Hurricane Beta churned off Nicaragua's jungle coast on Saturday and hundreds of Miskito Indians huddled in shelters in this sleepy port fearing its powerful winds and and torrential rains. An unknown number of fishermen and their families on the palm-fringed coast refused to leave their flimsy wooden shacks, oblivious to the danger from Beta, which whipped up winds of 85 mph (140 kph) as it inched toward Central America.
