As thick smoke nearly blocks out the sun, a firefighting helicopter lifts off April 19 near the main body of the fire in the Florida Everlades. State officials say more than 100,000 acres have burned in the last three days of the blaze. The fires, which has taken a westerly turn, have shut down I-75 which is Florida's primary highway connecting south Florida's east and west coast and threatens an Indian reservation.
