Arko Datta, Reuters photographer based in India, has won the premier award in the World Press Photo 2004 contest, announced February 11, 2005, with this picture of an Indian woman mourning the death of a relative who was killed in the Asian tsunami catastrophe. The prestigious competition is the world's largest annual press photography contest. World Press Photo jury chairman Diego Goldberg described the winning image as "a true spot news picture with a strong photographer's point of view."
