OPPOSITION SUPPORTERS BLOCK THE ROAD IN THE SERBIAN TOWN OF UZICE.
Opposition supporters block the road in the Serbian town of Uzice, some 200km south west from Belgrade September 29, 2000. Protests against Slobodan Milosevic spread through Serbia on Friday as his opponents launched a campaign of strikes and civil disobedience to force the Yugoslav leader to accept defeat in Sunday's elections. In Uzice cafes were almost the only thing open, with the medical centre, schools, transportation and other public services affected by strikes.
