IBRAHIM RUGOVA AND ASSEMBLY MEMBERS LEAVE ASSEMBLY HALL IN PRISTINA.
Ibrahim Rugova (R), president of the Democratic League of Kosovo and a
candidate for the president of Kosovo, leaves the assembly hall with
other assembly members in Pristina, January 10, 2002. Ibrahim Rugova
failed to win sufficient support in Kosovo's new legislature to be
elected president of the Yugoslav province. The outcome means Kosovo
remains without a president and government almost two months after
November's historic election designed to implement substantial
self-government in the province under a United Nations umbrella.
